In the first session of this online seminar series, we are delighted to welcome Melissa Charenko (University of Pennsylvania) as our speaker. We will be discussing her paper “Science and Society’s View of the Anthropocene” (2025), in which she argues that the Anthropocene remains a key concept because of the plurality of meanings developed in different disciplines, well beyond its first theorization by stratigraphers and its rejection by the community as an epoch.
